Purser
Pursers are officers aboard merchant vessels who are responsible for the ship's cargo, crew, stores and other aspects of the ship's operations.
Pursers work with the Master and Chief Mate to ensure that all regulations, including those relating to safety of life at sea (SOLAS) and protection of the environment, are being followed. Pursers also oversee the loading and unloading of cargo while on board a vessel.
The responsibilities of a purser can vary depending on their experience level or where they work in the company. Newer pursers may be given more administrative tasks and may not have any responsibility for cargo or crew.
